Advice for further research on the history of the organelle
- Imagine the perfect website for your topic and think about what sort of words that website would use. Use these words when you're searching.
- Look for websites like The Conversation and ThoughtCo and other websites that provide complex, in-depth information in a way that is easy to understand.
- Try adding inurl:.edu to the end of your Google search- this will limit the results to educational websites and is a good way to find pages from universities.
- Academic articles can be useful, if the whole article is available. If an article is hard to understand, look up the words you don’t know and focus on the abstract (a summary), the introduction, and the discussion/conclusion.
- Be sure that you are using good quality, relevant sources. Wikipedia is a good place to start but try to move on to sources that are a higher quality (ie. written by proven experts). Most Wikipedia articles will list their sources at the bottom, you can check if there are any good websites there. Refresh your memory on how to decide if a website has good information.
- Try searching with SweetSearch, which is a search engine designed to find websites that are more relevant to students.
