Young offenders
Updated Term 4 2021
Where to go to research for this task
FIRST read this page on finding resources for Legal Studies. It includes information on the research process, how to improve your searches, how to find and use academic articles, and places you can go to find news articles, legislation, cases etc.
If you are having trouble finding good information with Google, try Sweetsearch, a search engine for students that is designed to give you more useful results. If you do this, add site:.au at the end of your search to make sure you are getting Australian results.
For academic articles, use the State Library NSW Legal Studies eResources. You can register your local library card to access these databases. We highly recommend this as it will give you access to much better resources than the ones available via Google or other search engines. If you need help, speak to Miss Hewson.
To search a broad range of media outlets at once, use Google News. Add site:.au to your search to limit the search to Australia.
When you do your bibliography, you can use the SLASA Referencing Generator.
As you search, remember to evaluate resources for their trustworthiness. Websites that end in .gov are good for Legal Studies.
