Are you bored yet?
You've done all your schoolwork, you've binge-watched Netflix, and all your friends are doing is messaging each other to say how bored they are.
Here are 15 things you can do when you need something different to do: 1. Work on building skills or strengths for the sports you play. 2. If you play a sport or do an activity you can practise at home, this is a good time to fit in extra practise. Otherwise, you can try a workout from an app or YouTube. 3. Is there a country you’ve always wanted to visit? Learn some phrases in their language. If you want to take the plunge, apps like Duolingo will help you learn another language. 4. Have you always wanted to learn how to knit/cook/sew/play the ukelale/juggle/breakdance/anything else you can learn at home? Look for YouTube videos or apps that can help you to learn. (Please don't hurt yourself!) 5. If you like reading, set yourself a reading challenge. Here's a list of places to find ebooks and audiobooks. You could join Mrs Smith's 20 in 20 challenge and win a prize! 6. If you like writing, set yourself a writing challenge. Now's the time to write that novel! 7. Try memorising a poem or bible passage. 8. Do some bible journaling or start a bullet journal or an art journal. 9. Do some artwork, or up your smartphone photography skills. Or maybe you or your parents have a proper camera you can experiment with. 10. Call (or Skype/Facetime etc) your grandparents or other family members you can't visit at the moment. Do you have great-grandparents? Ask them about the Spanish flu in 1919. 11. Start a veggie garden. 12. Teach your pet some new tricks. Yep, even your goldfish. 13. Upskill your cooking- which could mean learning to boil an egg, or learning to make a croquembouche, depending on how much you already know about cooking. 14. Have a virtual movie night with your friends, where you all agree on a time to watch a movie in your own homes, and you chat about it online while you watch. 15. A lot of universities and colleges offer things called MOOCs, which are courses they have put online for free. There are MOOCs for every kind of subject- art, music, design, literature, history, science… and more. See if there is one that interests you at mooc.org |
